Downtown Sudbury

Downtown Sudbury has many delightful specialty shops, restaurants and the Rainbow Outlet Mall.



On weekends, visit the downtown Farmer's Market at the corner of Elgin and Elm Street. The building was orginally a CPR shed dating back to 1930 but it has been transformed into a open-air market and festival place. It features ample parking, vendors, food, music, buskers, and arts and crafts. The market is open May 11 through December 31. It is open Friday and Saturday, 8 am to 5 pm, and SUnday from 9 am to 5 pm. There are spcial events each month. For inforamtion call 705-674-5115.

There are a variety of shopping malls in Greater Sudbury to satisfy every shopping need. The New Sudbury Shopping Centre is located at the corner of Barrydowne Road and Lasalle Boulevard. Other malls include the Supermall on Barrydowne, Southridge Mall at the Four Corners, Hanmer Valley Shopping Mall in Hanmer, and the Place Bonaventure Mall in Chelmsford.

Costco is located at the corner of Barrydowne and the Kingsway in New Sudbury. Located in the same complex are many other eatailers including Chapters, Starbucks, Staples, a 12-screen SilverCity cinema, Sears Whole Home, Pier and a Home Depot nearby.

Notre Dame de Lourdes Shrine is located atop a hill on Lourde Street off Van Horne 705-522-2273. This is a replica of the famous shrine to the Virgin Mary in Lourdes, France. Count Fredric de Romanet du Caillaud founded the shrine in 1907 as a tribute to Our Lady of Lourdes in appreciation for the recovery of his wife from an illness.
