Are you planning to pay a visit to Singapore with your beloved? Here are the details of some of the top romantic picnic spots in the country.
1. Botanic Gardens
The areas around the theatre or the pond are quite ideal for picnics and gatherings. However, there are very few sheltered areas, so you should definitely either come here during the early morning hours or later in the evening, unless you want to get a sun-tan. There aren’t too many secluded spots for more privacy if that is what you desire.
2. Fort Canning Park
Fort Canning Park has a huge sprawling lawn just outside the Fort Canning Bunker, which is the main building in that park. There is more than enough space usually for a nice picnic with your date. From the lawn, you can get a really nice panoramic view of the surroundings. However, note that concert events get held there from time to time and you should check out the schedule unless you want to be packed with thousands of others.
3. Macritchie Reservoir
Macritchie Reservoir can get pretty packed during the weekends with joggers and people bringing their pets. Thus if you want a more private picnic, you might want to come here during the weekdays. There are some nice spots for picnic around the reservoir, where you can get a good view of the waters.
4. Marina Barrage
The Marina Barrage is a really beautiful place for a picnic but its main draw-back is its popularity. This place gets thonged by crowds during the weekends and holidays with families and kite-flying ‘enthusiasts’. Great if you don’t mind joining in the crowds and soaking in the atmosphere. Not so great if you want something more quiet and intimate.
5. Labrador Park
This is probably one of the most unknown and under-appreciated park in Singapore. But Labrador is actually very much as beautiful as East Coast Park, without the ceaseless noise of the crowds. The entire park is situated by the sea, which makes for a very wonderful and romantic picnic venue. There are plenty of trees there that can provide shade if you need to go during the scorching times of the day. However, note that it is very uncommercialized, which is the whole beauty of the place, and as such, remember to bring everything you need for the picnic as you will not find any stores selling the stuff you need.
6. Kranji Reservoir
Another of the less popular but equally beautiful reservoirs on Singapore, which makes this place such an ideal place for a nice, quiet romantic picnic with your loved one. There are beautiful spots just by the waters, with ample greenery and space.
7. Bukit Timah Nature Reserve
This is a really beautiful and wonderful place to have a picnic, if, your partner and yourself are up for some hiking to get to the nice spots. You may not find much ideal places for a picnic just at its entrance, but if you take some time to hike into the reserve, you will find many nice, hidden and quiet spots that are just perfect for a picnic. There is also the Hindhede Nature Park, located within the reserve that has a spacious picnic lawn if you are less adventurous.
So start planning, and pack a nice meal of wine, sandwiches and all sorts of snacks that you and your partner enjoy and head on out to the outdoors for a romantic picnic in Singapore.
