Haunted Halloween at Your State Park

This year why nothing enjoy a truly unique Halloween Haunting experience and visit your local state park during one of their many Halloween events? State parks offer Halloween events for every age and every style of every family member.

For the littlest ones there are cute lighted pumpkin walks and decorations and for the more adventurous they offer everything from twisted and terrifying hikes through haunted forests to spooky canoe rides down haunted rivers.

It does not matter whether you camp in a tent, trailer or motor home and in fact if you do not have camping equipment that is really not a problem either as many state parks have cabins that you can rent by the day, weekend or week. There is simply no excuse why you and your family cannot enjoy a Halloween haunting at a park this season.

When you visit these events you will find a wide variety of activities taking place. Besides the previously mentioned hikes and canoe trips there are also plenty of games, contests, exhibits, arts and crafts and food adventures taking place. Visitors will be enjoying pumpkin carving and painting crafts, pie eating contests, sack races, hay rides, costume and site decorating contests and much much more!

There is, of course, trick or treating taking place along with many a campfire crackling in the fire pit. You will often find campers clustered around enjoying their smores while listening to the spooky tales of the local haunting and legends. If you listen carefully, campers will hear howls, growls, moans and groans coming from the nearby woods. One never knows what is lurking just behind that huge oak tree just outside your tent.

If the spooky sounds get the best of you there is always a nearby group laughing and talking and scaring away all the bad sounds of the night. You will see happy campers with their latest prize that they won at the silent auction that just took place, or the trophy they proudly display for having the best decorated costume or campsite or even the remains of that delicious pumpkin pie that they just finished devouring.

This year, take a moment, take a day or take a weekend and enjoy the Halloween experience at your local state park!
