BREAKING: 64 Missing, 37 Dead In Fire At Kemerovo's Winter Cherry Shopping Complex

Forty-one children and twenty-three others are missing apart from 37 or more confirmed dead in a fire in the Siberian coal-mining city of Kemerovo that tore through a Winter Cherry complex shopping centre, about 3,600 km east of Moscow, Russia.


Many of the victims were in cinema halls when the blaze started on an upper floor of the building and in the latest update it is learned parts of it are in danger of collapse.

About 660 emergency personnel are trying to rescue people and social media circulated footage shows people jumping from windows to save lives.

It is yet to be accounted what caused the fire and investigation has been launched by the authorities.

Meanwhile, condolences have been offered by Austrian Chancellor Sebastian Kurz and Latvian Foreign Miniter Edgars Rinkevics to the friends and families of the victims.




In a tweeted message Kurz wrote, "My condolences to the families and friends of the victims of the terrible fire in the shoping mall in #Kemerovo. It is tragic that so many children are dead or missing. I wish a speedy recovery to those injured."

Winter Cherry complex shopping centre was opened in 2013 and includes a sauna, cinema screens, a bowling alley, a petting zoo and several restaurants.

Initial report reveals the fire may have started aat around 17:00 local time (10:00 GMT).

Russia's Investigative Committee said, "According to preliminary information, the roof collapsed in two cinemas."
