Israeli Tanks Kill Palestinian Ahead Of Mass Protest

Israeli tank killed a Palestinian man, identified as 27-year-old Omar Wahid Sammour, early Friday near Khan Yunis in the southern Gaza Strip and witnesses said the tank shells hit when he was working in his border-side land.


The Palestinian Health Ministry said one another man was injured by the Israeli shrapnel.

A report reveals army on the other side suspected Sammour trying to plant improvised explosive device (IED) near the border perimeter fence that separates Gaza and Israel.

The army said Israel Defense Forces (IDF) unit fired with a tank at two suspects who had approached the fence with suspicious behavior on the ground.

The IDF had opened fire overnight too at two other suspects who were cited tampering security infrastructure on the fence along the strip.

Meanwhile, a planned six-week protest camp, dubbed as 'March of Return,' was scheduled to start on Friday and ahead of it Palestinians pitched tents near the border amid rising tensions as the US embassy is Israel is prepared to move to Jerusalem.




The protest camp to continue until mid-May when the new embassy in Jerusalem would be inaugurated.

Even though the organizers said the protest would be peaceful, but Thursday evening saw opening of fire at several Palestinian rioters by Israeli troops.

Army said about two tons Palestinians protested violently at four main locations along the border fence by throwing rocks and lighting fires on the soldiers.

The Hamas-run health ministry in Gaza said five Palestinians were shot by the Israeli army.
