San Bruno: Woman, Nasim Aghdam, Opens Fire At YouTube Headquarters; Injures 3, Kills Herself

San Bruno, California (USA) | 3 April 2018:

Woman, identified as Nasim Aghdam, opened fire at Google's YouTube headquarters in San Bruno, close to Silicon Valley, Northern California, on Tuesday and injured three, one in critical condition, before killing herself with a 9 mm handgun.


Motive of the 38-year-old is confirmed not of terrorism, but a domestic related-dispute. NBC Bay Area mentioned she had earlier claimed the video sharing platform discriminated and filtered her content.

San Bruno Police Chief Ed Barberini, 19 km from San Francisco, said Nasim Aghdam shot herself with the gun after injurign multiple people at the YouTube campus.

Barberini added the suspect was found dead at the scene and her wound is belived to be of self-inflicted gunshot.

The police chief briefed the media mentioning, "It was very chaotic, as you can imagine."

Google CEO Sundar Pichai said in a statement that it was a horrific act of violence and unimaginable tragedy.

An eyewitness said he heard three shots in rapid succession when he was at a restaurant across the street of the YouTube campus.

He added that more shots were heard thereafter and found a woman on the ground.

In recent years rate of such mass killings have increased in United States leading to calls for tighter restrictions on gun ownership.



US President Donald Trump tweeted that he has been briefed about the YouTube shooting incident and prayers are with everybody involved.

Trump thanked in his tweet to the Law Enforcement Officers and First Responders.

Twitter Chief Executive Jack Dorsey responded to Trump's tweet writing, "We can't keep being reactive to this, thinking and praying it won't happen again at our schools, jobs, or our community spots. It's beyond time to evolve our policies."

It is learned videos of Aghdam were taken down on Tuesday evening and a message on her YouTube pages read that the content violated policy of the platform against spam and those had deceptive practices.
