Fiji Mum Convicted Selling Teenage Daughter 1000 Times In New Zealand

Auckland (New Zealand) | 18 April 2018:

A mum in New Zealand has been convicted for selling her teenager daughter as a sex slave for about 1000 times over a period of two years. She has been sentenced jail term for six years and 11 months by Justice Matthew Muir in High Court at Auckland.

According to court documents Kasmeer Lata asked her daughter to work as prostitute when she was only 14 years old. The daughter had refused, but still was sold first on her 15th birthday.

Ms Lata was thereafter kept as a prisoner and sold everyday, even five times a day sometime.

The family, including Ms Lata's brothers, are from Fiji. They moved to New Zealand about a year before the selling as sex slave started. Their visitor visas expired soon and hence they started living as illegal immigrants. Sonn they ran out of money and it became difficult for the mother to feed her children.

To overcome financial crisis the mother, 36, placed an ad on Craiglist website with an offer to sell her daughter for sexual services. She lied age of her daughter. With growing business she enrolled her daughter to online escort agency.

Gradually men in good number started requesting for the teen and the mother use to take her to motels and each appointment earned them up to $200 per hour.

In mid-2015 the teen discovered she was pregnant while working to pay rent and bills. She was forced to keep working to pay for abortion too.
