Dental Clinics in Bangkok

In the Land of Smiles the perfect smile is a winning smile. American studies have proved that people with white, even teeth are ahead of the race in their business and personal lives.

Bangkok’s international hospitals all have large dentistry departments that are equipped with the most up to date technology, and staffed by highly trained and experienced specialised dentists many of whom have trained or worked in Europe or the United States.

Dental Hospital

Besides general hospital departments, Bangkok has a brand new international standard dental hospital but whether you choose a hospital or a dedicated dental hospital you can be sure that Bangkok’s dentists are familiar with the latest preventative, restorative and cosmetic techniques. Whether it’s a simple clean and polish or some more extensive reconstruction or cosmetic work there are no better facilities anywhere.

A simple clean and polish will cost about than 1500 baht (US$ 42) that includes a complete mouth check by a dental surgeon, and the treatment itself which takes no more than an hour. More complex procedures of course take time and are more expensive, but compared to prices in the west all dental procedures offer excellent value for money.

The first visit to a dental department will include an oral examination and diagnosis, panoramic x-ray, and treatment planning. Special treatments you are referred to the specialists dentist for root canal treatment, braces, children’s dentistry, crown and bridge, dentures, dental implant and oral surgery.

Cosmetic Dentistry

At about 15,000 baht (US$ 426), tooth whitening is a popular form of cosmetic dentistry and with the pre-whitening clean and polish only takes a couple of hours, it is painless and will enhance the brilliance of natural teeth. The process uses tried and tested technology to rapidly whiten your teeth. The tooth whitening process is a blend of the old and new: laser technology combined with a gel that has been used to help brighten smiles for over one hundred years.

For a more lasting effect dental veneers cost about 12,000 baht (US$ 341) per tooth and are custom made wafer thin porcelain shells bonded to the front of a discoloured, chipped or worn teeth. Veneers have the advantage of being stain resistant and the colour is chosen to look like your natural teeth. The process takes two to three weeks to complete.

Two other types of cosmetic work that give similar results to veneers are dental bonding and crowns both of which disguise teeth defects.

A dental bridge fills a gap left by an extracted tooth the teeth on each side of the gap must have crowns made for them before the bridge can be fixed. Crowns and bridges need at least three weeks to complete and cost around 18,000 (US$ 500) baht for each tooth.

Restorative Dentistry

The latest in restorative and cosmetic dentistry are dental implants these are replacement tooth roots to which a crown is attached. Unlike other cosmetic and restorative procedures implants are designed to fuse with the jaw bone so they feel and act like real teeth, and with proper care they last a life-time.

Implants though cost much more than bridges and crowns at 105,000 baht (US$ 3000) each implant and the procedure may also be lengthy taking up to eight months or so. So it may not be suitable for every one.
