Mazatlan Cruise Port Guide

The largest port on Mexico’s west coast, Mazatlan spreads for fifteen miles along the Pacific Ocean ending just below the Tropic of Cancer. Mazatlan is best visited as a one day stop on a Mexico Cruise. For one week fun in the sun holidays, other Mexico hot spots such as Cancun, Cabo San Lucas, and Cozumel provide better resorts, attractions and options.

Must-See Attractions in Mazatlan

For first timers, a one-day visit to Mazatlan should include the Plaza Republica and the Golden Zone. The Plaza Republica is the central square in the old town of the city (Old Mazatlan). There you will find the cathedral with gold vaulted ceilings and the marketplace (Mercado Pino Suarez). At this marketplace, everything from sombreros, handicrafts and raw meat is for sale. The Golden Zone is a tourist area with numerous four and five star hotels with private beaches, shops and restaurants. Here, you can take in a show of the Papantla flyers performing a pre-Hispanic ritual dedicated to the Sun God. Playa Sabalo and Playa Las Gaviotas are two centrally located beaches in the Golden Zone offering snorkeling, jet skiing, and parasailing.
