Don’t Starve: Giant Edition - Review

As Wii U is the home of some of the top Indian games, Don’t Starve was a massive success entitled as one of the best Indian games of 2013.The original game is Don’t Starve: Giant Edition.

The game is basically a survival game with a few horror elements. But if we look it closely this does not look like a survival-horror game at all. The player plays as Wilson, a scientist who is lost within a strange wild place, who must survive. Here a player can create weapons, tools etc. by combining items together that the player could avail. The aim of playing the game is to survive throughout the whole game. Initially this seems to be an easy affair but things get interesting after sometime.

In the game there are different worlds and each world is different from the other. Moreover, all the worlds are huge and the player can easily get lost in this vast wild. There is a definite cycle in the game; so a player has to survive throughout the morning, afternoon, dusk, night and then back to the next morning. So this is a pretty complicated game as the survivor or the player has to face several different types of difficulty level throughout the whole day. During the morning and afternoon the player grows food and chop down trees to collect lumber and also collect food along with exploring the world. This is because at night monsters roam around everywhere. Even during the daytime many creatures can attack the survivor if he comes too close to them. Again during the night the survivor needs to create a campfire or any other kind of light, or else he will die. When he dies the game ends.

The horror or fear comes from the tension of having only one chance to survive; this is the actual feeling that makes the game so much popular and interesting.
