Review - Huawei Honor 6 Plus

The Huawei Honor 6 Plus is a big screen phone and perfect for watching videos and playing games. It comes with strong processor and is mounted with a solid camera too.

Pros

The camera takes snaps perfect for Facebook and its processor handles most tasks smoothly.

Cons

Several iterations are out of date in its Android OS and also the custom interface make the device awkward to use and sluggish to navigate.

Design & Display

The new phone sports a 5.5-inch screen with full HD display, larger than iPhone 4 and also cheaper. It measures 150mm long and 75mm wide. It is equipped with 32GB of storage, which is far better than those offering 16GB or 8GB. Its memory is expandable with microSD card.

The screen offers resolution of 1920x1080 pixels with 400 ppi density. This mean it is same as the iPhone 6 Plus of Apple in terms of clarity.

Software & Processor

The Huawei Honor 6 Plus runs on Android 4.4.2 KitKat operating system. This may be a bit of disappointing to many as the latest version is Android Lollipop. It is heavily skinned phone with huge changes to the Android interface including lack of app tray.

The device is powered by a Kirin 925 processor, which is an octa-core chip that uses four lower-powered processing cores for everyday tasks. It comes with 3GB of RAM.

Camera

There are two 8-megapixel cameras on the rear side. One is made for regular shots and the other allows some interesting depth of field effects. It even allows refocusing a scene that has been taken.

Battery

The Huawei Honor 6 Plus is fuelled by a 3,600mAh of battery. This may not be very good for such a big screen.

Price

The phone is priced tagged $472 in the US through Amazon.

Verdict

The phone is well equipped for social-networking fun. It has good screen, strong processor and solid camera too. However, the outdated software makes it a shame.
