Species such as Grebes can be found at Whitehouse lagoon while Great Crested Grebes, Redshanks, Oystercatchers, Dunlins, Curlews and Black-tailed Godwits can be found along the coast. Other bird watching sites are at Macedon Point and Loughshore Park.

Ballyrobert Cottage Garden and Nursery provides visitors with16 acres of gardens and wildlife. The original cottage and barn have been restored and are part of the charm provided in this atmosphere. The gardens do not boast the traditional Leylands and tea roses. Instead they are filled with cottage garden plants such as hosta, rudbeckia, rodgersia, and hellebore.

There are many places to visit in Newtownabbey. The Ballyearl Arts & Leisure Centre is home to The Courtyard Theatre where the Newtownabbey Theatre Group performs regularly. The theatre also hosts the Mossgrove Youth Musical Festival and the Ballyclare Dance and Music Festivals. Art and craft fairs are presented throughout the year.

Sentry Hill is an old farmhouse built in the 19th century and owned by the McKinney family. The house is filled with memorabilia from the McKinney family and their rural life on a farm. Sentry Hill is located in the Parish of Carnmoney, County Antrim. Tour guides are available to explain the history of Sentry Hill. Visitors will be able to view the diaries of William Fee McKinney along with family letters, and artifacts. Outside of the house is a garden which the McKinney family used for family outings. Tours are provided seasonally from April through September of each year.
