India's silver medallist at the Rio Olympics, PV Sindhu, emerged as the favorite of selection team for the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Australia, as the flag-bearer of the Indian contingent for the opening ceremony of the event.
Sindhu is the World No. 3 in badminton and she will lead the Indian badminton's charge at the upcoming 2018 CWG scheduled to open on April 4.
At the All England Championships the badminton star defeated one of her most fiercest rivals, Nozomi Okuhara, to reach semi-finals, but lost thereafter to Akane Yamaguchi, World Nu. 2, in an unforgetable match that ended in one hour and nineteen minutes.
She will be key to the mixed team event of her country.
India is sending 222 athletes from fifteen different sports including Gymnastics, Cycling, Boxing, Basketball, Aquatics, Table Tennis, Wrestling, Para Sports and Shooting.
