Snow White's Sydney White, 17 Again and That Thing You Do

Sydney White

Loosely based on the fairy tale of Snow White, this charming movie follows Sydney to university, where she tries for a prestigious sorority, but finds herself making friends where she had not expected. The counterparts to the seven dwarfs, the boys who befriend her, add their own unique personalities and viewpoints to the film. And with Amanda Bynes as Sydney, a tomboy who does not quite fit in a sorority, the movie has a great mix of sweetness and comedy.

17 Again

A movie about second chances, 17 Again brings Mike O’Donnell back to high school, allowing him to pick up his life and finish what he had started. Paired with his smart and slightly neurotic best friend, Ned, he works to achieve the goals he started all those years ago.

Matthew Perry stars as adult Mike, whose life is not what he had planned. When Mike goes back to high school, Zac Efron stars as 37-year-old Mike in his 17-year-old body, resulting in an awkward return to school. Thomas Lennon plays Ned, who reluctantly agrees to pretend to be Mike’s father and adds a degree of silliness and slapstick to the film.

That Thing You Do

Based on a true story, That Thing You Do follows the rise and fall of The Wonders, a sixties group that reached success with one particular song and became a one hit wonder.

Starring Tom Hanks as Mr. White, The Wonders’ manager, and Tom Everett Scott, Jonathon Schaech, Steve Zahn and Ethan Embry as the band, this film presents an enjoyable story with catchy music throughout.
