True Blood Stars Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer

True Blood fans everywhere were excited to learn that Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer, the stars of their favorite HBO series, are engaged. The couple, who are romantically involved on and off screen, became engaged on August 5, 2009. Since that time, fans have been searching for wedding news.

The Courtship of Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer

The attraction between Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer was instant just like it was for True Blood's Sookie Stackhouse and Bill Compton. The couple met at a True Blood audition and started dating soon after. This is no surprise to many fans, who have noted the sizzling chemistry between Paquin and Moyer onscreen in many online fan site discussion forums.

This will be a first wedding for 27-year-old Paquin and a second one for 39-year-old Moyer. Moyer has a nine-year-old son (Billy) and a seven-year-old daughter (Lilac) from prior relationships.

Moyer commented in a Celebrity Bride Guide interview, "It's just exciting and that was there from day one…We always take the p- out of each other and are silly with each other and that is great. We're very, very happy. She's the best."

Prior to joining the True Blood cast, Canadian-born actress Paquin was best known for winning an Oscar for her performance as Flora in The Piano at the age of eleven and her role as Rogue in the X-Men movies.

Before True Blood, British-born actor Moyer is best known for his movie roles as Prouix in Quills and Prince Valiant in Prince Valiant.

Anna Paquin's Engagement Ring

There has been a lot of interest in Paquin's unique engagement ring. The day after the engagement was announced on the media, fans were able to view photos online of Paquin wearing her engagement ring. Fans commented about the vintage style ring design and asked for more information on the ring in online discussion forums.

The ring design resembles jewelry styles popular in the Victorian and Edwardian eras. The round old European cut center stone is set in a silver metal. The vintage ring is something that fans can imagine Bill, who was turned into a vampire during the American Civil War era, presenting to Sookie. Fans speculated that the stone resembled a moonstone.

Moyer recently revealed to the media that Paquin's engagement ring is a dark rustic diamond set in fine silver. "It's made of silver and it has this amazing rustic diamond. It's not a rough diamond, but a diamond that isn't sort of clear and we decided to make it into a ring," Moyer commented on Paquin's engagement ring at the L.A. Dogworks and Good Dog Rescue Foundation gala in September, according to Show Biz Spy.

People.com reported that Moyer's friend, California jewelry designer Cathy Waterman, designed Paquin's engagement ring. Waterman is a popular celebrity designer.

Early Paquin and Moyer Wedding News

The couple has not released a wedding date yet to the public. Paquin has mentioned that the couple plan to marry sometime in 2010.

In general, the couple is not revealing too many wedding plan details to the public yet. Moyer did provide the public with one early wedding plan detail - the identity of a possible ringbearer. At the L.A. Dogworks and Good Dog Rescue Foundation fund raiser, Moyer mentioned that his dog, Splash, will be the ringbearer for the wedding.

Based on glimpses of Moyer and Paquin's personalities during interviews, fans can tell that this couple has fun together. They are friends as well as romantic partners.

True Blood

Since its inception on Sky in 2004 the FX channel has consistently brought quality American shows like The Wire and NCIS to a British audience hungry for riveting and unmissable television. Now with the TV adaptation of Charlaine Harris' Sookie Stackhouse novels, True Blood, FX has once again struck television gold.

The series opens with a man buying the beverage of the title at a local convenience store. This man claims to be a Vampire but is exposed as a fake by the owner of the premises, who is a bonafide night crawler himself. This opening case of confused identities lays the ground work for the rest of the series, where Vampires fit in seamlessly with mainstream society and where sexuality is an interchangeable commodity.

True Blood Stars Oscar Winner Anna Paquin

True Blood is a masterpiece of broadcasting, with its fantastic array of characters, each with their own secrets and hidden histories, drawing in the viewer to a world where Vampires, Werewolves and Shape-Shifters exist alongside humans.

The protagonist of the series, Sookie Stackhouse, is expertly played by the Academy Award winning actress Anna Paquin, who manages to capture the social nuances and deep insecurities that Harris endowed her heroine within the original novels. Equally, the Vampire, Bill Compton, who is one third of the show's central love triangle, is convincingly brought to life by Stephen Moyer, the Essex born actor who made his name in the BBC show, Ny-Lon (2004).

Supporting Cast, including Ryan Kwanten, Steal the Show

However, the real stars of the show are the supporting cast of misfits and low lifes who inhabit Bon Temps, with Sookie's brother, Jason and her best friend Tara particularly warranting plaudits for their scene stealing presence. Jason Stackhouse, played by Australian Ryan Kwanten, is at first glance a card board cut out of a high school jock, but as the series progresses Jason's love of casual sex is a side effect of the absence of true love he has felt since the untimely death of his and Sookie's parents. Tara meanwhile is seemingly just a foul mouthed Southern jezebel, who, like Jason, seeks love through casual sex. But as Tara's background is slowly revealed, it appears that a lack of maternal guidance, due to her mother's alcoholism, has left an empty hole in Tara that she is desperately trying to fill.

True Blood richly deserves mainstream attention and will surely receive that with its imminent arrival on Channel 4. The fans that the show has already gained will not mind watching the scintillating darkness of series one for a second time.
